The 2023 BWF Business Woman of the Year is…

Business Women’s Forum (BWF), held on Wednesday, May 17th, brought vendors and over 300 attendees for the largest all-day women’s conference in the central Pennsylvania region. This year was BWF’s 29th year supporting Central Pennsylvanian women professionals hosted by the Carlisle Area and West Shore Chambers of Commerce. Attendees spent the day networking with other professionals and attending nine different educational breakout sessions.

Kate Deringer Sallie is the Co Founder and Principal at Pillar+Aught. Kate is optimism and strength. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better, more qualified advocate for her clients or for other women in the profession. Starting with her advocacy for a maternity leave policy as a second-year attorney and continuing throughout her career, Kate has served as a mentor and leader for other professional women. Kate has deep experience in creditors’ rights, loan workouts, and commercial lending transactions, and is well-versed in all areas of corporate law and commercial transactions relevant to your business.

The Penn State University Dickinson School of Law graduate is also a frequent speaker on lending litigation and the subject of business reorganization. She continues her involvement at her alma mater by serving as a practitioner instructor.

Kate has been honored as a 2013 Women of Influence, a 2015 Select Lawyer for Susquehanna Valley, a Central Pennsylvania Business Journal “Forty under 40 award” recipient in 2016, and the PA Bankers Champion of Women award winner in 2018.  Kate was named Best Lawyers’ 2022 Lawyer of the Year for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and was included on the Power 30 List for Law and Lobbyists in Central Pennsylvania for 2022.

Thank you to Laurie Guest, our encouraging and exciting keynote speaker who taught us about “The 10 Cent Decision: How Small Change Pays Off Big.” Laurie is a Midwest farmer’s daughter, Laurie learned to master the art of customer engagement at just 9 years old, selling more sweet corn than her competition. Today, her sought-after keynote programs on delivering exceptional customer service experiences —as informative as they are entertaining —have helped thousands of leaders and teams across a variety of industries.

Laurie’s program revealed the customer service essentials that everyone on the team, from CEOs to front-line staff, must know to stand out in the marketplace. If you are interested in learning more about her you can visit her website: www.laurieguest.com

In addition, we would like to thank our breakout session speakers, the vendors for their participation in this year’s event as well as the sponsors who helped make this event possible. We hope to see you next May for our 30th Anniversary of Business Women’s Forum!
