At the heart of Cumberland Valley’s charming downtowns are local businesses that contribute to the unique character and economic livelihood of our community. These restaurants, shops, and attractions help to make our region a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

In the past, tourism and visitor spending played vital roles in supporting these local businesses. Unfortunately, visitation decreased substantially in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Mobility Market Outlook on COVID-19, the global revenue for the travel and tourism industry will be an estimated $396.37 billion in 2020, a decrease of around 42.1% from the previous year. This decrease – combined with other necessary health and safety protocols – means that many local businesses were disproportionately hard hit by the pandemic. They rely more than ever on neighbors to keep them financially afloat.

Since the Cumberland County Commissioners declared February 2021 as Restaurant Month, the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation in partnership with the four Cumberland County Chambers, started off with #CVEats, which highlights Cumberland Valley’s culinary scene, featuring more than 300 local restaurants where you will find food and drink experiences that elicit oohs and aahs. Outstanding international cuisine, good old comfort food, mouthwatering pizza, cooling ice cream concoctions, handmade chocolates, local libations, and American classics are just some of the many mouthwatering options. We all have our favorite locations where we’ve spent time with family and friends enjoying good food and conversations. Right now, they need your help to survive.
