West Shore Chamber of Commerce

businessSPOTLIGHT: Orthopedic Institute of PA/ The Arlington Group

What services or products does your business offer?
We are a full-service orthopedic group of about 33 physicians and 8 locations. We have surgeons, as well as non-surgical orthopedic specialists. We treat patients of all ages. Many of our doctors sub-specialize allowing us to get the exact care our patients need. In addition to appointments with our providers we have a walk-in clinic. Our OUCH clinic treats on evenings and weekends. We see weekend warriors, sports industries, and home repairers. Many come directly to our clinic after an orthopedic injury instead of the ER because often the ER will send patients to us anyway. It is also often more expensive to visit the ER instead of us.

How does your business separate itself from your competition?
For close to 50 years OIP/Arlington has become a staple for central PA. Our patients have continued to stay loyal because we are the Orthopedic rock in the area. Others may come and go but we have continued to have the best surgeons in our practice.

How do you see your business growing in the future?
Orthopedic Institute of PA/ The Arlington Group continues to grow in services as well increasing our excellent providers. We grow by continuing to provide the best orthopedic care. As the population increases in the area around us, OIP/Arlington answers that call.

How does your business get involved in the community?
There are various charities that we work with throughout the year.

Volunteers of America – Operation Backpack: last year we donated over 400 backpacks along with many school supplies and $2000 in checks.

Bethesda Mission: every January we have a “souper bowl” and collect soup and non-perishable food items to donate to the Mission. Every December we collect hats, scarves, gloves, blankets and personal care items to donate.

United Methodist Home for Children (Mechanicsburg): every December we collect gift cards to donate to the children at the home.

Toys for Tots: we participate in the toys for tots program every year.

Breast Cancer Awareness: every October we have a t-shirt/sweatshirt fundraiser. Proceeds go to local breast cancer foundations.

Humane Society of Harrisburg: we do a pet food/supply drive and all donations were given to local animal shelters.

Dress Down Days: throughout the year we have dress down days and all the money raised goes to various local charities such as suicide awareness, MDA, American Heart Association, Humane Society of Harrisburg, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, ALS, etc.

How long has your business been a member of the Chamber?
We have been a member of the West Shore Chamber for just over a year. I’ve attended many events and it’s helped me see that good old grass root marketing isn’t a bad thing.

How has Chamber membership been beneficial to your business?
The Chamber has been beneficial to OIP/Arlington because the events they put on get its members out of their comfort zone. I also plan to advertise in partnership with the Chamber.
