West Shore Chamber of Commerce

businessSPOTLIGHT: Grief Relief Intervention Team

What services or products does your business offer?
Primarily we provide individual mental health therapy. We specialize in trauma, grief, and loss; however, we will provide services for individuals struggling with other mental health needs as well. We have teamed up with On the Job and Off to provide mental health services to First Responders. The Cumberland County Commissioners Office signed in a program for first responders, and we are now the mental health advisors for their program that is in the process of going statewide. G.R.I.T. is our Crisis Intervention Team. When a traumatic event occurs, it can impact everyone involved. Through Critical Incident Stress Management, we help those impacted by the event. We will go on-site to provide this service. Our goal is helping people work through the event in a healthy and productive manner and be available to support them on the individual level if needed.

How does your business separate itself from your competition?
All our therapists are specially trained for Traumatic events and three of our therapists are trained in EMDR. EMDR is a specialized form of therapy used on trauma patients to help move them through and process the traumatic events quickly and efficiently. We go on-site to local businesses when an event happens to provide services. We even have a mobile office to take with us if we need to go long distances or be on-site for extended periods of time. Our response time for critical incidents can typically be within 24-48 hours depending on the situation. We also work weekends and evenings. Finally, we answer our phones after hours in person [except when I am sleeping!!]

How do you see your business growing in the future?
As a reference point, in one year we have grown from just our founder, Lisa Zoll, to a team of 5 additional therapists and we are hiring more. It seems like there is no end in sight for our services. We are well respected by other therapists in the area, and they refer patients to us because of our expertise. Insurance companies refer patients to us daily. People and employers are realizing how important mental health is to a person’s well-being and use us as a referral base for their EAPs on a regular basis. We are planning for this growth.

How does your business get involved in the community?
Living Forward is the training, consulting, and speaking platform of Grief Relief. We provide a variety of presentations that will inspire, train and motivate participants. We facilitate several group therapy sessions with non-profit organizations. Our commitment to the First Responders might find us in a police car or emergency vehicle making sure that everybody is doing well.

How long has your business been a member of the Chamber?
We joined the West Shore Chamber of Commerce in February of this year.

How has Chamber membership been beneficial to your business?
All we want to do is make everybody aware of our services. Hopefully, nobody will ever need us, but the reality shows that life happens, and we are here to help the person or business handle the situation. So, just exposure like this article is very beneficial. At the last mixer, I was able to create a relationship with a large business that will, if needed, use our team.
