A portion of the proceeds will be donated back to The Salvation Army of the Harrisburg Capital Region who were the beneficiary of this year’s outing. The Salvation Army (TSA) Harrisburg provides diverse programs including basic needs assistance, self-sufficiency mentoring, workforce development, Dauphin County’s largest food pantry, Family Table nutrition education kitchen, youth enrichment programs, and a myriad of spiritual services. TSA’s programs focus on meeting the needs of body, mind, and spirit without discrimination. The Salvation Army strives to be timely and efficient as it examines and addresses needs within Harrisburg and surrounding communities. Last year, The Salvation Army onboarded a Certified Reading Specialist to help combat pandemic-related learning loss in local school districts as well as their own after-school and summer youth enrichment programs. Additionally, The Salvation Army partnered with Dauphin County in March 2021 to roll out the Emergency Rent Assistance Program (ERAP) for residents impacted by COVID-19. In less than a year, The Salvation Army has provided a conduit for over $1.5 million in rental assistance, helping families maintain their housing and avoid episodes of homelessness. Over 36,000 people in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry Counties received assistance from the various outreach programs provided by The Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region Corps during the past year. A check presentation will occur in June.
